News and Notes
Student Led Conferences - Our student led conferences are coming up at the end of this month. Training was last week at our faculty meeting. I will send out the powerpoint presentation so you can review it and then ask any questions. Our actual conferences are scheduled for February 27 and 28. Students will be dismissed at 10:45 am on both days. Hopefully, in LINK, your students have been calling home to make arrangements and scheduling appointments. With our conferences scheduled for Wednesday we have adjusted our LIC for this month. We have dropped the LIT Wednesday off the calendar and moved the department and individual days up. Here is what the month looks like:
- Wednesday 2/6 - Admin Directed (1st Wednesday)
- Wednesday 2/13 - Department Directed (2nd Wednesday)
- Wednesday 2/20 - Individually Directed (3rd Wednesday)
Student Learning Plans - Last Friday Brian Curtis spent the day in the Library Computer lab assisting teachers with the online tool. Several teachers are now completed with their required learning plans. Once started, they really are fairly simple and go pretty quick. If you need assistance getting started please contact one of the administrators. We can sit down with you. It takes just a few minutes to do a couple together and then it is pretty simple from there. We need to complete all required student learning plans by the time with meet with parents at our Student Led Conferences. You should have received a folder of all your LINK students at the faculty meeting last week. Only those students marked as needing a Student Learning Plan need to have one for their conference with parents. We are not asking you to prepare one for every student in your LINK. Please touch bases with Brian Curtis with questions.
Interested in Teaching AP? - The National Advanced Placement Conference in scheduled for this summer in Seattle. The district learning department is willing to send teacher to the conference and summer training. Remember, if you are interested in teaching an AP class we not only need to certify the curriculum by teachers also need to be qualified by way of summer training. If you have not previously been certified or attended summer training please consider this opportunity. If you have any questions please see one of the administrators.
Book Study - The Office of Diversity Affairs has agreed to pay all teachers up to 4 hours for the work we do completing our Book Study. As a result we will begin our Book study within our regularly scheduled faculty meeting next month. The discussion will continue beyond our regularly scheduled time. Those staff members choosing to stay will be paid for their time. We will also consider some options before school or even off hours. The next three chapters include 3, 4, and 5.
