News and Notes

Faculty Mtg - Our regularly scheduled faculty meeting is this Wednesday, 2/6. We will be meeting in the Library at 1:15 pm. We have updates on grading for the new semester and information about our upcoming student led conferences. Don't forget we will also be discussing the Introduction, Chapter 1, and Chapter 2 of our study book. Please remember to bring your book, "We Can't Teach What We Don't Know".

Curriculum Fair - Our Curriculum Fair is scheduled for Monday, 2/4. We will be in the PAC at 6:00 pm with a general session and then move to the commons. Dinner will be available for staff by 5:00 pm in the faculty room. Rick will be touching base with staff today about setting up for the fair.

The curriculum fair is designed for incoming 9th grade students to get a better understanding of the programs available to them here at Rogers High School. Please touch bases with your department chair for details.

Grades and Grading - Second Semester begins Monday, 2/4. As you know, they have adjusted the way Teacher Access Center deals with semester grading. You need to begin second semester with new grades. You will not need to worry about third quarter when it comes to running totals. Running totals and categories should work just fine.

As you complete your semester grades please review your grades carefully. If you are using TAC and having to calculate a semester grade yourself as a result of averaging first and second quarter grades please check to make sure the final grade is accurate. If you are using EGP you will only need to be sure you carry the final semester grade over to TAC and post the semester grade accordingly.

The grading window is open in TAC from Jan 31 - Feb 8. All grades must be posted to TAC by 8:00 am on February 8. Any student failing a class must receive a comment as to why.

Adjusting LIC Wednesdays - We are proposing an adjustment to the LIC Wednesday Calendar for the Month of February. Our proposal would be that the LIT Wednesday be moved to the end of the month so that we could facilitate our WASL preparations. We will be discussing this at our faculty meeting but here is what it would look like this month.
  • 1st Wednesday - Admin Directed
  • 2nd Wednesday - Department Directed
  • 3rd Wednesday - Individually Directed
  • 4th Wednesday - LIT Directed
