Other News and Notes
Semester Changes - At this time, NO decision has been made as to how we will recover the days we have been out recently due to the weather. A lot of options have been discussed. Here is what we can say for sure.- The First Semester was originally extended and is currently scheduled to end on February 6th. That day will be an early dismissal day with students being released at 10:45 am. The rest of that day is designed for teachers to work on grades and prepare for second semester.
- Grades are due to Carrie on the 12th of February and report cards are scheduled to go home with students on the 16th.
- The Seniors last day was scheduled for Friday, June 15th. We expected to withdraw seniors on Thursday, June 14th and have graduation practice on Friday, June 15th. At this point we are discussing options for meeting state requirements for our seniors.
- Graduation is scheduled for June 16th and that will not change.
- All underclassmen are scheduled to complete school on June 29th.
Other conversations involve such things as Saturday make ups and Learning Packets. I have not at this time heard anything about altering any upcoming scheduled breaks such as President's Day Weekend or Spring Break.
I spoke with our Executive Director and he indicated that we will not be extending the first semester any more than we already have. The district has produced a letter of explanation for all families. We will be sending this letter home to families sometime this week or early next week. If you have an email system with your parents, operate a blog, website, or maintain any other regular contact home with parents please keep them informed of only accurate information. (No guessing or editorials please!)
Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly Rescheduled- Our Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly has been rescheduled to next week. The assembly will be either Thursday, 1/25 or Friday, 1/26 immediately following 2nd period in the Gym. Students will report to 3rd period and be dismissal will be by announcements. Please go with your classes to the gym. We would also ask for you to supervise that seating area of your class. So, if you have mostly Juniors in your 3rd period class please help us by supervising the Junior seating area of the gym. Sophomores will be seated in the Balcony. We may open both sides of the upstairs and allow Sophomores to sit on either side.
Student Led Conferences Training - Our first extended training for our upcoming student led conferences is scheduled for next week on Wednesday, 1/24. We will meet in the library at 1:30 pm and should be done about 3:30 pm. If you recall from our faculty meeting, we shared with your our professional development plan to assure success for our upcoming conferences. Staff will be paid for the training time next week.
Curriculum Fair - Our annual Curriculum Fair is scheduled for next week on Monday, 1/22 at 6:00 pm in the Commons. We have a light dinner for faculty in the faculty room beginning at 5:00 pm. Rick Cox has the set up procedures. Let him know if you need anything specific. He will be getting maps to departments and presenters by Friday of this week.
