Other News and Notes
Staffing Update - We are in the process of finalizing our section allocations. We will be scheduling meeting with departments for late this week and early next week to get numbers out to you. They are tentative at this time as we are still working through staffing and remediation issues with the district. Here are a couple things to remember as you do your staffing sheets.
- We really just need to know who is interested in teaching what subject areas.
- Planning periods should not be included in your work.
- Part time schedules should not include starting periods or ending periods
AP Testing - AP exams are scheduled for this week and the beginning of next week. We will be using the PAC and some classrooms for the testing sites. Please be aware that testing is going on for these students. We have included a list of exams and the day they are scheduled. Joan Berry has the complete room schedule and exam location. Thanks for all your help in preparing our students for these national exams and doing your part on staying focused through last week.
Faculty Meeting - We have a faculty Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 5/3. We will meet in the Library at 1:15 for training on our Senior Presentations. We have two styles of presentations this year, exit interviews and formal presentations. Both styles require the students to address a set of 5 standard questions. In the case of the exit interview, the student is "prompted" to answer the questions. In the formal presentation format, students use their portfolio to present a 10-12 minute presentation that addresses the same 5 questions.
We will be providing training on both of these styles this week at our faculty meeting. It is critical as we transition to this newer format of interviewing that we all attend this required training.
Security Measures- With all the events of last week we certainly had an opportunity to practice some of our emergency preparedness procedures. While we changed some things for Wendesday last week we have, for the most part returned to "normal" (if there is such a thing). We are evaluating some changes to our daily procedures. We will discuss them more in detail at our faculty meeting and at some future dates.
Campus Clean Up - We have a campus clean up scheduled for next Tuesday, 5/9. Over the past several years we have used Mayfest as an opportunity to beautify the RHS campus. Students and staff are invited to join us next week after school to clean up, spread bark, pull a few weeds, and trim up the bushes around campus.
