Progress Reports - We have scheduled progress reports for Tuesday, 3/7. We are doing things a bit differently then in the past. LINK has been set aside to have Junior and Senior class meetings, Sophomores are meeting in their WASL testing areas. We will be moving back to how we used to do our progress reports. Here is the process:
- Progress Reports will be distributed to all students during 1st period
- Teachers need to complete progress reports for all students each period of the day
- 6th period teacher will collect the pink copy of the progress report and return all copies to the Guidance Office.
- Have students return signed copies (White) to the LINK advisor on Thursday, 3/9
Faculty Meeting - The second WASL faculty meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday, 3/8. We will be meeting in the Library at 1:15 pm. Cathy will be going over all the questions that came up from the last meeting as well as the rest of the information all of us need for the upcoming assessment.
WASL Items - There are a number of items related to our upcoming state assessment we wanted to let you know about. The faculty meeting on Wednesday will help to answer many of the questions. Here are a few of the Questions and Answers now.
What is the schedule for the week?
The WASL will run Monday, 3/3 - 3/16. We will not be assessing students on Friday, 3/17. The scehdule for the week is designed so that only our sophomores come to school during the assessment time. For sophomores, the assessment will run from 7:40 - 10:20 am each morning. Lunch will run for all students and staff from 10:25 - 11:10 each day. We will follow this schedule each day of the assessment.
After the assessment we will run the following schedule:
- Monday, 3/13 - Periods 1,3,5
- Tuesday, 3/14 - Periods 2,4,6
- Wednesday, 3/15 - Periods 1,3,5
- Thursday, 3/16 - Periods 2,4,6
Homework for Sophomores
This assessment has become, as you know, very high stakes. Parents and students alike are struggling with the outcomes and the accountability attached to this assessment. To assist sophomores and to give them the best opportunity possible, we are asking sophomore teachers to look at alternatives to regular homework assignments for this week. As much as possible we would like to see sophomores not be taking school work home beginning Friday, 3/10. As we move back to a regualr schedule on the following Friday we can then go back to a more regular homework and classroom work schedule.
Class Interruptions and students out of classes
While we are meeting classes theoughout the week, we are meeting them only every other day. We are asking teachers and classes to not plan any program or trip that will involve taking students out of class during the week of the state assessment. We are on an alternating schedule throughout the week and any absence from class becomes compounded as a result. Please be respectful of each others time and teaching schedule.
Class Meetings - We have scheduled class meetings for our Junior and Senior classes on Tuesday, 3/7 during LINK. Seniors will be meeting in the PAC while the Juniors will be meeting in the Gym. Students will report directly the class meetings. Teachers, please go with your LINK classes to their class meetings.
During the class meetings, Sophomores will be going to their assessment areas. Lists have been posted around the school. Students should be aware of their assessment location. Teachers should have a list of those students who should be in their room for the upcoming assessment. Please be in the halls during passing to assist student in finding their locations.
