Other Notes and News

Portfolio Turn In Process - Students will be turning in their portfolios on Tuesday, 3/21, during LINK. Pam has put together a great process in which our LINK advisors are key. Once the portfolios are turned in they need to be sent down to the Library for sorting. All LINK Advisors will know which teachers will be evaluating their students. The goal is for LINK advisors to keep track of their students and the progress they are making on thier portfolios. As portfolios get approved the evaluators will let the LINK advisors know. In the end, Pam will be working with the LINK advisors to keep track and monitor the status of our seniors and their portfolios.

Staff Meeting - We met with our Department Chairs last week and asked the best time to have a staff training on our Portfolio evaluation process. It was decided that we would meet Wednesday, 3/22, at 1:15 pm in the Library. As in previous years, we will go over one portfolio together and then you as a staff can remain to complete the work or leave and then do the work when you can. I know this is a change from our regular LIC but department chairs felt it best to use the Wednesday early release for this time rather than call another faculty meeting this week sometime. Hopefully they have communicated that to you.

WASL Wrapup - First of all a huge THANKS! Attendance was almost perfect and stduents and staff did an amazing job of making the first week of WASL a huge success. We had almost 600 sophomores take the assessment. Some spent almost 14 hours over the course of two days writing on Wednesday and Thursday of last week. They, and you took it very seriously. Thank you. While we completed the Reading and Writing portions of the state assessment, we still have the Math and Science portions to complete in April. The next testing window is scheduled for April 17 - 21. We will be assessing students on Tuesday, 4/18 - Friday, 4/21 of that week. Stay tuned....

Multicultural Fair - Rogers students will be hosting their annual multicultural fair on Thrusday, 3/30. The fair itself will be throughout the lunches. We would ask however if you get the opportunity in your classes to emphasize the multicultural aspect of your curriculum during that week you do so.
