Other News and Notes
Involuntary Transfer Letters - We met this morning and gave everyone an involuntary transfer notice. Part of that process includes you signing off that you received that notice. Please stop by and sign off the staff sheet located in the main office by Diane's desk if you received your notice.
Please know the involuntary transfer process only has an impact on us based on the fact we are growing and will be receiving some teachers from around the district through this process. Please be patient as we continue to work through the staffing, hiring and master schedule process.
Car Give Away - As some of you may recall we rewarded our students last year for their efforts on the WASL. Our criteria was that students had to be here every day on time and give us an honest effort. In the end, if they did so we brought all the students in the gym, thanked them and then handed out 2 ipod music systems. It was just a way to say thanks and reward those students for doing it right.
Well this year Karey Howell has gone over the top by getting Bruce Titus to donate a car to our students. Completely free, tax, license, the works! The filter is the same. Students must have been here each day of the WASL on time and they must have given us an honest effort. Today during 6th period we will be using our video broadcast system to broadcast the car give away. Please listen for the announcement and allow your classes to be a part of this event. We chose this option rather than trying to get all the students out of class and in the gym.
A huge thanks to Karey!
Department Staffing - We have not met with all our departments. If you have not gotten your department staffing input back to admin please do so in the next day or so. Also, please understand with the direction we are heading in the district relative to staffing and negotiations the final staffing will probably not be completed until just before we leave for summer. Also, we anticipate growth and increased staffing in the fall so there will be a need to move students around.
Final assignment of classes will be based on several factors. Certainly we will take into consideration department and individual requests, certification is another, finally our need to put a master scheduled together that best fits with all departments. The admin team will probably more than ever before, be adjusting final assignments based on such things as highly qualified status and our needs as a building.
Recent Staff Update - As some of you may know, Lynette Thorsteinson was involved the auto accident last week on 94th Ave prior to school. She is home recovering. As with most accidents she suffered head and neck injuries. If you get a chance drop her a note as she is reading email. We will keep you updated
