Other News and Notes

Emergency Bus Drills - The district will be conducting emergency bus drills all week. We may have some late busses. If possible we will announce by intercom.

Cell Phone Policy Clarified - It seems like our new electronics (Cell phone) policy is working. At the beginning of the year there certainly were a lot of phone in the main office. Students seem to have caught on to the fact there are no exceptions to the rule. We have hit a couple of instances that do need clarification. Please discuss this within your department so that we are all on the same page.
  1. No cell phones are to be used at any time during the class period. Teachers will confiscate all cell phones that are out during class, place them in a zip lock bag and label the bag with the student's name.
  2. Please bring all confiscated cell phones down to the main office by the end of the day. It is important we have them the same day they were confiscated in case parents wish to retrieve them that afternoon. The rule is parents may pick up a confiscated cell phone at the end of the day from the main office. Without a parent intervention, students will be given their cell phone back at the end of the week if it is their first violation.
  3. There is to be no cell phones used in the hallways during class periods. (This one has been a bit of a problem) The decision was to not use cell phones at all during class time. That extends now to the hallways and other areas during that same time. Teachers, do not let students leave you class to make a phone call - Another teacher may very well confiscate their phone!
  4. On the second offense, students will lose the cell phone for the remainder of the month. Again, parents may come in to retrieve the phone but a parent/admin conference is required.
  5. On the third and any subsequent offense, we are assuming the student is being insubordinate and as a result will apply the appropriate discipline. In most cases this is some kind of short term suspension or in-school suspension. That determination of discipline will be left up to the administrator.
If you have any questions please contact one of the administrators.
