Other News and Notes

WASL - The Math and Science portions of the state assessments are scheduled for this week. The Math assessment is scheduled for Tuesday, 4/17 , and Wednesday, 4/18. These two days will be the by far the busiest we have had. The number of students we need to assess is well over 800. The Science portion of the WASL is scheduled for Thursday, 4/19, and Friday, 4/20. These will be much lighter days as only sophomores are scheduled for the Science assessment.

We will begin each assessment day with a proctor meeting in the library at 7:10 am. There are just a few key reminders each day but it is important that proctors be at the morning meetings. This is the end of this assessment cycle for both Juniors and Sophomores. It has been a long two months for students and staffs. Thank you in advance for all your support of our students and their efforts during this time.

Student Led Conferences- Student led conferences begin for our senior LINKS this week on Thursday and Friday. During the Science portion of the WASL some of our Senior LINKS have scheduled their first student led conferences. The rest of our conferences are scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, 4/25. Conferencing can begin at 1:30 and is scheduled to go until about 8:00 that evening. Dinned for the faculty is scheduled to be served in the commons at 5:00.

As we spoke about in the faculty meeting the other day here is our expectations for you and the conferences:

1. Make an honest attempt to meet with the parents of all your LINK students
2. If students and parents miss their appointed time please make at least one honest and good faith attempt to reschedule. This can be done through an email or phone conversation.
   
3. Use the following times to meet as needed:

• April 18/19 during WASL time as scheduled for Sr LINKs
• April 25 1:30 - 4:30 and 6:00 - 8:00
• Before and after school as scheduled

Please keep track of any time spent on conferencing. We will pay whatever we can. We also are willing to "comp" time as needed. In the end, we will do what is needed to make it work and at the same time fair to you.

World Affairs Summit - The World Affairs Summit is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday in Tacoma. We will have our Step Team down at the Summit on Friday. A video productions crew will be down there on Friday putting together a video show of the event. We also will be putting together a digital portfolio of the event using a couple of our students working independently. If you get a chance, head to downtown Tacoma Friday and/or Saturday to support or kids
