Other News and Notes

Parent Conferencing - Our annual "arena" style parent conferences are scheduled for
Monday, 11/20. We will begin the evening with dinner for the faculty at 5:30 pm. A light dinner will be provided in the faculty room for faculty and staff prior to conferences. Conferences begin at 6:30 pm in the Commons. You all should have received a packet last week about our conferencing program. We will have the commons set up and a table with your name on it. Here are just a few short details about conferencing:
  1. Conferences run from 6:30 - 8:30 pm
  2. Be prepared to meet both students from your academic classes as well as your LINK class
    1. Sophomores - Job Shadow, Begin Portfolio
    2. Juniors - Community Experience, Portfolio
    3. Seniors - Portoflio Development and Completion
  3. Please share progress on Culminating Project with all of your LINK parents
  4. Bring your laptop with quarter grades
  5. Course Syllabus and Grading Policies
  6. Sign in sheets for parents
As you meet with parents remember this may be the only time you have to meet face to face with them. Unfortunately the student is not with them. Encourage the parents to work through their son or daughter as well as you to keep on track.

Administrators and counselors will be in the commons throughout the evening if you have questions or concerns. Also, please remember that we have limited time and lots of parents so if you feel the conversation is going to extend past 5 minutes please ask parents to schedule a meeting with you before or after school.

It really is a good evening to meet parents and connect to those people who are clearly supportive of you and our school. Thanks in advance as I know it will be a long day!

Thanksgiving Break - The building will be closed over the Thanksgiving break. Please check the security alarm prior to entering the building over the weekend. Custodians will not on site Thursday or Friday of this week.

SWIFT Training - A training session will be held on November 29th, 2006 at 1:25 PM. The training should last about an hour and will give you the opportunity to start creating your website. You will also have the opportunity to upload grades to your website.

We know the training is during an individual Wednesday, but would like to extend an opportunity for you to use this time for SWIFT. In order to have materials ready for those who would like to participate we are asking that you respond to this email verifying your attendance by Monday November 27th. We will send you the location for the training (it will most likely be in Bryna's room) by Monday November 27th. If you can not attend please know we will have more trainings in the future.
