News and Notes
Fair Day Details - Wednesday, 9/13 is the Puyallup School District Annual Fair Day. School will be dismissed at 10:45 am. For students needing lunches, food service will be available at the close of school day. We will be meeting with our LINK classes throughout the day. As in the past, we will rotate throught three different sessions with our students.
- Session 1 - LINK - This time is designed for teachers to develop richer connections with their established LINK groups. In some cases, (Sophomores) this is the first time this group of students has been together. We connected the sophomores in RAM Crew group during their sophomore orientation. In the case of new LINK groups, advisors will need to spend some time connecting students with each other and themselves. It is also a good time to establish working protocols for your LINK.
- Session 2 - Handbood Video - As in the past, we will be presenting our student handbook materials through our video distribution system. We will be asking for both staff and students to sign off on our handbook procedures at the completion of the video.
- Session 3 - Class Meetings - This session is designed to have each class come together as a large group. We will be explain a bit more about the culminating project as it relates to their grade level. We will also be addressing some grade level specific materials with them.
Brian has put together a Blog for LINK. You can access it through the following address: http://www.rhslinkreview.blogspot.com
Recognition Assembly - We will have a recognition assembly this Friday, 9/15. A bell schedule went out yesterday. The assembly is scheduled at the conclusion of 5th Period. Students will report to their 6th period classes so their can leave their backpacks in the classroom. Dismissal will be by announcement. As most of you may know, our own Major Monte Mingus was recently selected as the national Senior Army Instructor. This is a national award through our JROTC program. Army officials, our students, and district folks will be here to celebrate. At the conclusion of the awards portion of the program we will have a brief pep assembly for the upcoming ERHS game that is scheduled for that evening.
Course Syllabi - I have received a number of course syllabi from teachers. Please remember as you are getting things put together for back to school night consider having your new course syllabus ready for parents. A single page edition is probably best. If your materials are not ready please know this too is a process and that we will continue to refine and edit our work throughout this year. I need all course materials by the end of the month.
