Other News and Notes

HSPE Testing Reminders - The new state assessment begins tomorrow. The High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) is scheduled to begin tomorrow. We begin with the Reading assessment on Tuesday. The Writing Assessment is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Here are a few key reminders:

1. We will begin each day with a staff meeting to get your bins and a quick orientation in the Library. The meeting will begin each day at 7:10 am
2. The Class schedule differs each day. Tuesday will be 1,3,5. Wednesday will be 2,4,6. Thursday will be all 6 periods (1-6) but the periods will be shortened.
3. The Assessment is untimed. Students have until the end of our regular school day to complete the assessment.
   
4. Please encourage students to do their very best. This is a graduation requirement

Homework concerns during the HSPE Week - Please use this week to allow students a little break from any new or project based homework assignment. Regular homework that keeps students focused is appropriate. Please do not look at this week to make up the big chapter assignment or project. That is true for all grade levels. For our Juniors and Seniors, this may be their last attempt at passing their Reading or Writing assessment for graduation. Please take care to give our students every opportunity to be successful. A little less homework might just help.

Congratulation to Tori Knight - Tori was First Runner up in the Daffodil Selection process this past weekend. Tori was our Daffodil Princess. She was outstanding at the coronation this past weekend. As first runner up, Tori was awarded a $5000 scholarship. Way to go Tori!
