Other News and Notes

End of Semester - The semester ends Thursday, 1/28. School will be dismissed at about 10:45 am (10:46 to be exact). We will be on a 1 - 6 period day. For those with year long classes it gives you a chance to see all students. Semester teachers have a chance to go through a final checkout procedure and issue final grades.

Grading for the Semester - The window for the semester grading opens on Wednesday, 1/27. All assignments you want included in this grading period need to be dated 1/27/10 or earlier. All grades need to be submitted on TAC by the end of the day on February 2nd. Any student who has earned less than a "C" in your class for the semester needs a comment associated with their grade as to why they received that grade. Please be as specific as the comments allow. Also, we are assuming that contact has been made or at least documented attempts have been made to the parents and/or guardians of all failing students.

Student Learning Plans - All student learning plans (SLP's) need to be completed and printed by this Friday, 1/29. Remember, we are only creating or updating learning plans for students who have not yet met standard on one or more sections of the High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE). When you have completed the SLP don't forget to print two copies. We need one for the parents and one for our records. We will be using these at our upcoming student led conferences in next month.

Schedule Changes - There will be some schedule changes at the semester as students are in semester classes and we need to fill schedules for second semester. Students should not be coming to you and asking to get into your class. Doing so puts you in a difficult position. Please refer all schedule changes back to the counselors. Only students with a "hole" or missing class period should be sent to the counseling center beginning Friday, 1/29. Schedules will be distributed on Thursday, 1/28 during 5th period.

Counselors will be available before and after school next week as well as during all lunches. No students should be leaving classes for schedule changes. We will work to balance classes and be checking with teachers throughout next week on class loads. Please only allow students who are on your class lists in your classes. All other students should be sent to the counseling center.
