Other News and Notes
Back to School - Our annual Back to School Night is scheduled for this week on Thursday, 9/24. We will begin with a staff dinner at 5:00 pm in the faculty room. Our program will begin at 6:30 pm in the Gym. Parents will be released to classes about 6:45 pm. First period begins at 6:50 pm. LINK is included in the schedule after second period. We will be having students complete there schedules for their parents in LINK on Tuesday of this week.
This really is our best and one of our only times for you as individual teachers to talk with parents about Rogers High School. You work at a pretty special place! If there was every a place to drop your son or daughter off for the next 170+ days an truly know they would be okay, it is here at Rogers.
A couple of notes about Back to School Night. Here is what it is:
- An opportunity to introduce yourself and your classroom expectations
- Explain your grading and homework policies
- Talk about your curriculum
- Share with parents the best way to contact you as an instructor
- Stress the importance of working together as a learning team to help their son or daughter
- Not a time to discuss individual issues with parents
- Discuss or express your personal or political views about district or state educational struggles
Progress Reports are Coming - The first IPR (Interim Progress Report) will be due the first full week of October. As we talked about back in August, grades need to updated in TAC every two weeks for students and parents. The first official report however will be that first full week in October. We will not be printing IPRs out for students and parents this first time around. Please be sure you are posting grades in your classroom.
Online Trainings - Please remember that your district directed online trainings (8) need to be completed by the end of this month (September 30). If you have not already completed all the trainings please take the time to do so soon.
Board Study Session - Budget Review - The Puyallup School District Board Study Session is scheduled for this Wednesday, 9/23 at 3:30 pm in the PAC. The board will be getting an overview of what is to come at the state level from a state budget analyst. You are welcomed to attend the meeting this Wednesday.
