Other Staff Issues and Items

Students of Color Recruitment Fair - Rogers High School is hosting the Puyallup School District 1st Students of Color Recruitment Fair with Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Colleges from across the United States will be visiting Rogers High School this Wednesday, 2/1. The Fair will run from 12 noon until about 4:00 pm. Invitations have been sent to close to 1000 of our district students, as well as, all great Puget Sound area school districts, private schools, regional ESD's, and state agencies. We will have a number of visitors on our campus at the end of our day this Wednesday. If you get a chance please stop by the gym and check out the schools that are visiting.

Lunch Schedule Changes - There was a decsion to adjust at the deparment chair meeting to adjust our lunch assignments. It did not seem fair to have the same department "stuck" with having second lunch on a two or three year rotation. As a result, Brian has come up with a new schedule for second semester. He will be getting that to you. We will be implementing the new lunch schedule for second semester. Brian will give you actual dates and times of when everything starts. Please know we will be rotating through three lunches until we can either reduce to two lunches and eliminate our middle lunch or move to lunch by class period. It was clear in our discussion that off campus lunches was not a good decision.

Facutly Meeting Change - Last week in the Ram Review we asked to change the regularly scheduled faculty meeting from this week to next week. Hearing no objections we have moved our monthly faculty meeting to next week on Wednesday, 2/8. This week on Wednesday, 2/1, teachers will be given the time to use as they need to in order to complete their end of semester work. We will count this week as teacher directed. It makes sense to give our teaching facutly as much time as possible this week in order to facilitate grading and the change of semsters. Hope this helps.

Attendance Issues Related to Student Death and Memorial Service - Please review your attendance records over the past week and be sure that they are as correct as possible (I know it was a bit nuts last week). We had a number of studnets with counselors and our visiting crisis team last week. Our kids, counselors, and staff did a great job but trying to keep track of all the students was a bit of a chore. I believe we accounted for all of them and made home contacts with those we missed. For the memorial service, students we issued early dismissals and will be using those for readmission on Tuesday. Some students were out the entire day and have parent notes and excused absences that reflect that.
