Other News and Notes
Back to School Night - Our Back to School Nigh program is scheduled for this Thursday, 9/25. We will begin with a staff dinner in the faculty room at 5:30 pm. If you get a chance stop by and join us for a quick snack prior to the parents arriving. The program will begin in the gym at 6:30 pm and then parent will move to meet teachers in their classrooms at just before 7:00 pm. Here are a couple of reminders we will be giving parents that will hopefully help direct some of your presentations:
Goals:
- A chance to put a name with a face or voice as we work together over this semester or throughout this year to help provide academic success for your son or daughter.
- Provide general classroom information such as grading scales, homework policies, and course outlines.
- Provide contact information to parents such as SWIFT or email so that parents feel they can have direct communication with our teachers to help ensure the academic success of each student.
- Allow parents to get a general sense of what kind of daily schedule their son or daughter maintains each day.
- Provide parents the most positive look at Rogers High School we can give them in the 90 minutes they are here.
- This night is not about individual issues parents have about their son or daughter. Please ask parents to make an appointment for before or after school.
- This is not a night to deal with the political issues of class size, program problems, or such things as cell phone policies. Please send all issues and concerns to admin as best you can. We will be around and step into classrooms throughout the night.
E. Wesley Award Winners - We have had over 30 students receive the E. Wesley Award this past Saturday at an awards program at Clover Park Technical College. Monday night our award winners will be presented to the school board. A huge thanks to our counselors and others who worked so hard to make this happen for so many of our kids. We will send a list of our E. Wesley award winners. If you get a chance, please take the opportunity to congratulate them on their award.
Grading - We need to have our grades online in the next week or so. If you are not using TAC which posts grades up automatically, then you need to post your grades out to your SWIFT accounts at least every two weeks. Interim progress reports are due to be posted to TAC the first week of October. If you have not posted to SWIFT or need support to do so please let one of the administrators know sometime this week.
