Faculty Mtg - There will be a faculty meeting this Wednesday, 2/15, at 1:15 pm in the Library. Remember, we traded out the Teacher Directed day earlier in the month. Our focus for this week will be a continuation of the conversation we began around student learning plans.

Department Chair Mtg. - There will be a Department Chair Mtg., Monday, 2/13, at 2:30 pm in Room C243. There are a number of rather important topics to discuss that we need your input on. Our upcoming WASL materials will be discussed along with our proposed testing schedule. We also will be discussing our master scheduling process and the changes we anticipate based on staffing needs, remediation, and new course requirements.

State Tournaments - Our Gymnastics team and 7 of our wrestlers will be competing this weekend in their state tounaments this weekend in the Tacoma Dome. Competition for both teams begins on Friday. With no school scheduled, Peter will be getting information out on times as things become more clear. We do not get supervisor passes for the tournament unfortunately but hopefully some of you will get a chance to stop over.

WASL Plans - The state assessment is quickly approaching. The first WASL window is scheduled for March 13 - 17. This first week we will only be testing Monday, 3/13 - Thursday, 3/16. The first assessment is Reading and Writing. We will be giving the Math and Science assessment a month later during the week of April 17 - 21. This second week of assessment we will begin on Tuesday, 4/18, and continue through Friday, 4/21As we have discussed we are taking a different approach to the assessment then we had originally planned. We will be using all staff to administer the assessment and as a result will not be holding classes as normal during the WASL windows. Juniors (not retaking the assessment) and Seniors will not be arriving to school until after 11:00. This give our students involved in taking the assessment the very best possible opportunity to be successful as they can. We will only be assessing students Monday through Thursday of each week. We also will not be allowing any makeup assessments.

It really is different this year and we need every single staff member on board with our assessment process and what we are doing to prepare our students for these two very important assessments. Our staff meeting in March will be dedicated to this topic entirely. Cathy will be getting you all the information necessary very soon. I just wanted to start the conversation.
