Scholarship Reception - The Senior Scholarship Reception is Wednesday, 5/28, at 6:30 pm in the Commons. This is when we will be awarding tons of $$ to seniors. There will be presenters from throughout the community in our commons presenting scholarships to our deserving seniors. Next week will be our annual Seniors Honors and Awards Evening. It is that night when many of our faculty are involved in presenting department and school honors and awards. Please check with your department chair as to any presentations your department may be responsible for.

Failing Students - Please update your grades on a more regular basis these next couple of weeks. It is important that we keep parents informed of student progress on a weekly basis through either EGP and SWIFT or the TAC program. If you have a Senior in your class who has suddenly fell off and may be failing please contact home immediately. Also, please let Tom Tripple know of any failing seniors on a regular basis. Email contact is probably to the most efficient way to keep in touch.

Summer School - As before, we will be hosting summer school in our building. Karey Howell will be our Summer School principal. Summer school information is now available. We will be sending out information to all credit deficient student in the next couple of weeks. Please remind failing students in your class that summer school is an option here at Rogers High School this summer.

TAC and EGP - We will be providing more detailed professional development for TAC and our end of the year grading process in the next week or so. All staff members will be required to attend the training. Our goal is to provide the training during our regularly scheduled faculty meeting next month. We will also provide additional training during planning periods in the first couple of weeks of June. In the end, it has been made clear through some recent meetings that TAC will be the only option for teachers next fall. All staff will be required to keep their grades using TAC on a regular basis. I am not sure how negotiations play into this but the message is pretty clear at this point.

Other News and Notes

Progress Reports - This week is progress report week. All students need to be informed of their progress in class. Please post current grades for all students in classrooms by the end of the week and remind students to check their grades. We also need to post grades electronically. The window for posting grades to TAC is open from Monday, 5/5 until Monday 5/12 at 8:00 am. All grades must be posted to TAC by Monday at 8:00 am.

This is the final grade reporting prior to the end of the year. It is imperative that all parents be informed if their son or daughter will fail or is in jeopardy of failing a class. For seniors this is absolutely critical. Graduation and commencement is on the line for these kids.

If you have a senior who is failing your class we are asking you make contact home through a phone call, email, or letter home. Please keep a record of your contact home. It is not enough at this time to simply assume TAC or SWIFT grade reporting is working.

TAC Users - Use the Interim Progress Report reporting feature and post your grades. The tab for the interim reports will go away as of 5/12/08 at 8:00 am.

Swift Users - If you are using EGP as your grading program, please post your grades out to your SWIFT site by Monday at 8:00 am. We have been doing this throughout this year so this should not be a problem.

In all cases we needed to have accurate and current grades reported for all students by next Monday at 8:00 am.

Culminating Project Update - If you still working with Seniors on their culminating project or their presentation please contact Pam Larsen. The Admin team has picked up a number of students who we believe are not completing their work. In working with them however, most have said they are still working with their evaluator. The biggest issue is that some evaluators may not have turned in their progress sheets to Pam. Please update Pam with any work you are doing with Seniors.

Sr. Boards - Sr. Boards are next week. School will be dismissed next Wednesday and Thursday at 10:45 am each day. On Wednesday we will run a 1,3,5 schedule. Thursday will be a 2,4,6 schedule. We will get a complete bell schedule to you later this week. Pam will also be getting an updated schedule of Sr. Boards to all teachers next week with their assignments.
