Other News and Notes
Scholarship Reception - The Senior Scholarship Reception is Wednesday, 5/28, at 6:30 pm in the Commons. This is when we will be awarding tons of $$ to seniors. There will be presenters from throughout the community in our commons presenting scholarships to our deserving seniors. Next week will be our annual Seniors Honors and Awards Evening. It is that night when many of our faculty are involved in presenting department and school honors and awards. Please check with your department chair as to any presentations your department may be responsible for.
Failing Students - Please update your grades on a more regular basis these next couple of weeks. It is important that we keep parents informed of student progress on a weekly basis through either EGP and SWIFT or the TAC program. If you have a Senior in your class who has suddenly fell off and may be failing please contact home immediately. Also, please let Tom Tripple know of any failing seniors on a regular basis. Email contact is probably to the most efficient way to keep in touch.
Summer School - As before, we will be hosting summer school in our building. Karey Howell will be our Summer School principal. Summer school information is now available. We will be sending out information to all credit deficient student in the next couple of weeks. Please remind failing students in your class that summer school is an option here at Rogers High School this summer.
TAC and EGP - We will be providing more detailed professional development for TAC and our end of the year grading process in the next week or so. All staff members will be required to attend the training. Our goal is to provide the training during our regularly scheduled faculty meeting next month. We will also provide additional training during planning periods in the first couple of weeks of June. In the end, it has been made clear through some recent meetings that TAC will be the only option for teachers next fall. All staff will be required to keep their grades using TAC on a regular basis. I am not sure how negotiations play into this but the message is pretty clear at this point.
